“This is only the beginning. There are reports of terrible disasters all throughout Skylands.”
    —Hugo

Hugo is a mole-like Mabu who is one of the main supporting characters and Master Eon's assistant, historian, and librarian in the console versions of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. Using the Far-Viewer, he helps the Skylanders by finding out what the they need to collect in order to repair the Core of Light.

Personality

Hugo is well-educated and is often found reading a book or doing research. He has vast knowledge of the history of Skylands and is a great source of information. He isn't a fighter and can be a little cowardly due to being fairly weak and uncoordinated.[1] Hugo also has a strong dislike for sheep and tries to convince others to distrust them on many occasions.

Story

Skylanders: The Machine of Doom

Hugo went to the Mabu Market after seeing that Eon's citadel larders were running low. While he was browsing the stalls, both Hugo and Flynn were attacked by flying sheep and escaped to warn the Skylanders. On Eon's Island, the Skylanders didn't believe Hugo and Flynn at first, but upon seeing the Mabu Market in a wreck and the flying sheep through use of Eon's portal, the great Portal Master sent Spyro, Gill Grunt, and Eruptor to find out what was going on.

Afterwards, Spyro told Hugo of an item Kaos was seeking called the Chattering Key, which the Mabu immediately went to searching for through the library. Hugo was able to find out through ancient records that the Key was an item created by the Arkeyans that would unlock an ancient Arkeyan artifact. The Mabu then handed the Skylanders a map to the Forest of Fear where the Key resided.

Skylanders: Spyro versus The Mega Monsters

Hugo reappeared in Spyro versus The Mega Monsters, trying to get the attention of Master Eon and the Skylanders present about the book he had in his possession the Warrior Librarians of the Eternal Archives were coming for. He was also terrified at the fact that they were mega-sized sheep terrorizing a part of Skylands Drill Sergeant where was sent to investigate.

Skylanders: Gill Grunt and the Curse of the Fish Master

Hugo was present with Spyro, Gill Grunt, Master Eon, and Lead Curator Wiggleworth to look into the Book of Power Kaos was after in the previous adventure. Upon learning that the evil Portal Master was after the Mask of Power, the Mabu stayed with Master Eon and Spyro to look into more of the Book of Power for details on the Mask fragments' whereabouts.

Skylanders: Lightning Rod Faces the Cyclops Queen

Hugo went with Double Trouble, Flynn, and Warrior Librarian, Squirmgrub, on an air balloon to the Storm Titan Games to inform Master Eon of the location of the next segment to the Mask of Power. However Lightning Rod's stray hammer crashed into the air balloon, causing it to spiral out of control. The passengers were saved from the crash by Drobot, and Hugo afterwards informed Eon of the next fragment to the Mask of Power.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

Hugo was present with Master Eon when Kaos and The Darkness approached, and was told by Eon to take his station to hide for cover. He managed to survive Kaos's initial attack and the destruction of the Core of Light by hiding under a rocky hatch that was his station. Hugo was later called by Eon to seek out the new Portal Master and the Skylanders on the Shattered Island, and later helped the Skylanders to rebuild the Core of Light by guiding them on their journey to find the Eternal Sources.

After Kaos was defeated, Master Eon gave Hugo the honor of banishing Kaos. The Mabu eagerly accepted the offer and sent the evil Portal Master to Earth using the Core of Light.
