Beast Makers (ビューティフル ガーデン ホーム Beautiful Garden Home in Japanese) is the fourth homeworld in Spyro the Dragon. It is a swampy homeworld, with electrically charged platforms found in various areas, activated by Gnorcs, who use them as weapons against those who approach them. The realms within this homeworld take a similar form.

The dragons native to this region tend to use sheer strength to overcome their enemies. This homeworld also contains what is considered one of the most difficult realms in the original Spyro the Dragon trilogy: Tree Tops. You must collect at least 5 dragon eggs to access this world.

World Description

The Beast Maker dragons’ homeworld is a gigantic swamp, with green and black ooze that easily traps any creature smaller than a Beast Maker dragon and suffocates it. Small patches of dry ground harbor wooden huts which serve as homes for the natives, and they are connected by split logs floating in the ooze in between. The horizon is shrouded in an ominous black mist, adding to the eerie feel of the realm. Torches are lit all over to provide lighting. In the middle of the realm is a huge Aztec-like temple with numerous steps. It is used for meetings among the inhabitants.

A Beast Maker dragon

The Beast Maker dragons are the champions of self-indulgence. They would like nothing more than to lay around in their swampy baths and listen to some nice music. However, they have to work to eat, so they take up jobs such as their namesake: creating monsters and fodder for the rest of the realms. They are responsible for nearly 78% of the non-sentient species inhabiting the Realms, and are quite proud of them too. The Beast Maker dragons rarely get angry, but once they are set off, they will destroy everything around them with their charging attacks.

The leader of the Beast Maker dragons is Bruno, and he is the first dragon that Spyro frees when he enters the homeworld. He informs Spyro what has become of the Beast Makers homeworld since Gnasty Gnorc froze all the dragons.

Beast Maker Dragons speak a mix of Cajun and Jamaican accents.

The portals in this homeworld are giant, carved wooden and stone arches and sometimes with tribal patterns.

  • In the late demo, Beast Makers has Stone Hill's music, the chickens go SQWRAAK instead of BRAWWK, electrical platforms make a different sound, torches are in the cave, the hogs make snorting noises and a whirlwind is missing. The plants are also fireproof.
  • The Beast Makers homeworld was inspired by Kurtz’s compound in Apocalypse Now.[1]
